1 Audit
The scope of the audit includes: the identification and classification of information, business processes, and IT systems—this will allow for the clear definition of the business processes and systems subject to BCM, as well as an inventory of information and IT resources that impact the availability of the processes and systems covered by BCM.
Step 1: Audit
2 First Phase
Identification of IT resources, verification of IT documentation and the computer network diagram, identification of IT systems, risk management process, loss estimation method, data analysis - qualitative and quantitative impact, identification of critical tasks, definition of business continuity requirements, assessment of threats to critical tasks, risk management plan, cost budgeting, human resources planning. Development of a BIA (Business Impact Analysis) – an analysis of the impact of incidents on key processes within the organization.
Step 2: First Phase
3 Second Phase
Organizational context – we will develop an organizational context procedure. We will identify internal and external factors as well as the needs and requirements of interested parties.
Step 3: Second Phase
4 Third Phase
System procedures: we will discuss and develop system procedures such as: documented information, internal audits, and corrective actions. We will develop appendices to the procedures.
Step 4: Third Phase
5 Fourth phase
Development of a business continuity management strategy, internal and external communication, and operating principles for the crisis management team.
Step 5: Fourth phase
6 Fifth phase
Developing a procedure for creating business continuity plans, developing business continuity plans for IT processes and systems, and developing plans for restoring lost resources (a catalog of processes and applications covered by ISO/IEC 22301, specifying their parameters: RTO – Recovery Time Objective and RPO – Recovery Point Objective, and disaster response scenarios).
Step 6: Fifth phase
7 Sixth phase
Development of an incident management procedure, incident reporting and logging, and development of monitoring mechanisms.

Information about ISO 22301

Who is it for?

ISO 22301 is an international standard designed to ensure business continuity. It applies to all types of organizations (private, public, and nonprofit), regardless of their industry, size, or legal form. Any entity that wishes to:

  • minimize the risk of losing business continuity,
  • ensure the company’s compliance with international business continuity policies,
  • demonstrate that the company is capable of managing risks associated with its operations and prepared to quickly restore business continuity,
  • certify its business continuity management system.

Implementation of the ISO 22301 standard is particularly recommended for companies in the:

  • IT,
  • telecommunications,
  • financial,
  • and logistics sectors.

Information about the standard

The ISO 22301 standard is designed to help develop and implement a structured, effective business continuity management system. It aims to minimize the level of risk to which a company is exposed due to the nature of its operations, thereby limiting potential damage. The guidelines of ISO 22301 regulate all processes related to the management of a company’s resources, ensuring their protection and a rapid return to normal operations in the event of critical incidents, such as:

ISO 22301 is an international standard for Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS), developed in 2012 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in response to widespread interest in the British standard BS 25999-2. The ISO 22301 standard is consistent with it in most areas (though it emphasizes different aspects of business continuity management). It is the first international standard designed to maintain business operations under crisis conditions.

  • delivery delays,
  • loss of a strategic customer,
  • IT system failure,
  • burglary and theft,
  • natural disaster.

Benefits of Implementation

Implementing the ISO 22301 standard brings a number of extremely important benefits to the company:

  • it facilitates the identification of even the most unexpected threats,
  • it improves the organization’s resilience to critical incidents,
  • it enables an effective response to crisis situations,
  • it strengthens the stability of the company’s operations in the face of disruptions,
  • it facilitates the rapid restoration of the company to normal operations following a crisis
  • reduces the costs of returning to normal operations.

A company that successfully obtains ISO 22301 certification also gains significant reputational benefits:

  • it builds a brand image as one prepared for crisis events, protecting its employees and stakeholders from them,
  • it gains greater trust in the eyes of current and potential customers, partners, and investors,
  • it meets a greater number of tender requirements,
  • it gains a competitive advantage over companies that do not have a certified BCMS
